• Visual inspection of the appliance
• In depth inspection to check for exposed metal
• Inspection of the cables to ensure good working condition
• Testing for insulation resistance
• Verification of earth to the appliance
• Run test for earth leakage

Once the inspection and testing is complete, each appliance will be marked with a pass or a fail. If the appliance is unsafe, then the device should be removed from service and not be used until the issue has been rectified and rechecked.
